Lose your phone or your wallet?

A recent study stated that 70% of people would rather lose their wallet than their mobile phone.

It’s no surprise really; just think how dependent we have become on our mobiles and not just for making and receiving calls.

Email and mobile banking are great but people are now using their mobile for the majority of their browsing on the internet now.

We are also spending more and more money on them and using more and more data than ever before.

So with all this is mind it’s essential you get the right deal for your company regardless of the size.

A few things to consider when renewing or getting a new deal:
  • The right handset, take your time and get advice.
  • The right coverage, get it checked to ensure the best possible reception.
  • Best value for money as a collective. Talk to a specialist and see if a deal can be done to get the RIGHT package and the BEST possible price.
You may well be on the best deal but it wont hurt to check that out with our client services team.

Working from home

It seems to be all the rage these days the ability to work from home.

With the world cup coming to a close but the summer approaching us fast it’s very easy to see the appeal of working at home eh!

But there is another reason to consider. For the parents among us the summer holidays can bring both thoughts of delight and also possible headaches.

Getting child care cover is not always that easy and there is always work to be done over the holidays.

This is where a good communications plan really pays dividends.

With the right phone system you can work as if you were in the office. Imagine your desk-phone at home that acts just as if your were in the office no different. Imagine if you could take that phone on holiday or even have your mobile phone have the ability to act like your desk phone?

All of this is possible and so so much more.

Mobility without compromise,

The word “Mobility” is a bit of a buzz word these days.

Why ?

Because we can and do more on the move.

Work used to be focused around the office, that’s where we did the work.

Today we can work from almost anywhere and you may find yourself doing exactly that.

So with everyone who works in an office they are likely to have two numbers : An office extension and a mobile number.  This also leaves you with two voicemail boxes and probably multiple email accounts.

Business today operates 10 x faster than it used too and with internet on our smartphones this is just the beginning.

At Connect-it we understand these challenges that mobility brings.  We have experience in enabling simple and affordable solutions that give your staff a landline and mobile solution to ensure they are connected at all times and never miss a call.

How ?

This can all be achieved with a Single Cost Per User Per Month that is likely to be more Cost Effective  than your current set up today.

What does PSTN mean?

Once again, another acronym, so let’s get that out of the way. PSTN stands for Public Switched Telephone Network.

So what does it mean?  It is simply a phone line from your premises to the exchange. Then you are connected to the rest of the PSTN. Excited ?

Once at the exchange this is where all the switching gets done i.e. connected to the next network until it reaches the phone where the destination number is.

Of course all of this routing happens in a split second and in fact is 99% digital today.

However the last hop on the journey is still using a physical copper line from your office or home to the nearest junction box which is the hop between you and the exchange.

So it’s a big network that enables you to be connected to other people on the network.

The network today is owned by governments and large telecoms providers and extends all over the world through the air and under the oceans. This is why you are billed monthly or quarterly for this service so it can be maintained and improved.

We also use the PSTN line for most broadband connections today and interestingly knowing where we access data from and accessing those entire networks worldwide we only pay a single fee to our broadband supplier. Quite impressive when you think about it.

Would you like to see if we can be more Cost Effective on your line rental and call package?

If you have not reviewed your call package in the last 12 months the chances are we could save you up to 20% maybe more.

The Cost of a Missed Call

The cost of a missed call could be nothing, equally, it could be huge.

It may have been a cold caller, it may have been a customer or it just may have been a prospect.

Either way missing that call is never good.  They may  leave a voicemail, they may not.
The question is:

It was a good deal at the time

There was a deal a few years back that at that time was a small business no brainer.

It was very simple.

You had a mobile phone contract that in addition provided you with free landline number that diverted the calls to the mobile device.

What is a Hosted Phone System?

A Hosted Phone System is now a mature technology that uses the internet to make and receive phone calls and in some cases as well as a traditional PBX phone line.

Sometimes it is referred to by the technology it uses called VOIP.

What does PBX mean?

What does PBX mean?

PBX is the acronym for “Private Branch Exchange”.

The main challenge that a PBX solves is that many people in a building can all share a number of lines to dial out rather than needing  a separate line for each person. When this technology first hit the market it saved companies thousands of pounds.

At the exchange where BT and such like do all of the management of call routing and connecting your PBX does this on a much smaller scale for your business.

It is very simple.

It involves the installation of a box on the wall in your premises  which does all of the clever management stuff so you can make internal calls and direct dial numbers and share a smaller number of lines to make external calls.

Where a PBX system is still hugely valuable today is for those companies that cannot get the required bandwidth (internet speed) for a VOIP / Hosted Systems.

If you are a growing company that needs a modern phone system that ensures you can provide the right kind of service to your clients and prospects and cannot get or do not desire to use an internet based system,  then we would be very happy to answer your questions and advise on what options you have, if indeed you need anything at all.

By understanding our clients’ needs and business objectives we thrive on being a strategic partner to many UK based businesses.

One monthly price for a desk phone and mobile!

Imagine if you could have a phone system that was desk phones and mobiles as a single solution.

So you’re on that important call at your desk but you have to get to your car and make your way to a meeting and you don’t want say to the caller can I call you back in a minute, imagine you just pressed a button and the call was seamlessly transferred to your mobile as If it was all the same system?

Have you noticed your broadband is slower?

If the answer is yes,  there may be a very simple answer to this.

Take a look around your office and count:

How many mobile phones and tablets and laptops there are?

When you first put the broadband in it was probably just for the server and PCs right?

Why communication is vital

Communication is made up of three things:
1) Verbal
2)  Non Verbal
3)   Listening

For businesses of all sizes all three areas are vital for both internal and external communication.
Internal communication will make or break your company culture.

Keeping it all together

Our relationship with our smartphone

A study conducted in 2009 stated that 40% of respondents would rather lose their wallet than their smart phone. Nearly all stated that they would be devastated.

Another fun fact is asking people what is your time to device? I.e. when you wake up in the morning how long is it till you pick up your smart phone? Scary thought eh!

Who doesn’t like saving money!

Silly question right? Of course we like saving money. The question is always : How much money can we save?

I decided to blog about this after seeing a recent customer saving that the guys at the office showed me.

How important is an internet connection to your business?

It was not that many years ago that most small business’s didn’t have decent broadband.

In order to have a good quality reliable internet connection at a half decent speed meant having a dedicated leased line from BT.

Keeping it simple!

There is something quite satisfactory when simplifying and streamlining don’t you think?

It’s that time of year when we like to start with a good clear out and as we all get back into the new working weeks we have that renewed energy and optimism.

We too love this time of year as we love simplicity and helping people streamline their communications.

What can we look forward to in 2014 that will enhance our business?

Looking back 2013 was not such a bad year after all seems to be the general feeling from most small business owners we speak too. Not great but not terrible either.

You see we are working both harder and smarter now as a result of technology.
I think one of the keywords in 2014 will be mobility. The ability to both work and communicate from anywhere is becoming a must in most areas but not all.
